“It takes a village to support an initiative like this,” said WBC Director JoAnn Cueva as she made the announcement at the Women’s Center’s annual SafeWalk on October 1st at the Danbury Fair Mall, “but, every village needs a leader and Pat Zachman is that leader.” “Pat is the epitome of what the Heart of Women represents, an individual who gives of her time and talents to positively impact the community and, inspires others to follow her lead. It recognizes that one person with heart really can make a difference.”
“Pat is a friend, an advocate, and a fighter when necessary,” said LouAnn Bloomer, President & CEO of TBICO. “I have never worked alongside anyone better able to resolve conflicts and handle difficult situations with such remarkable patience and admirable tact.”
Women’s Center Board Vice Chairperson & Development Chair Elaine Cox added, ”I began my volunteer work at the Women’s Center by attending events and eventually joining their Advisory Council. Within a few months of spending time with Pat and her staff, I quickly wanted to work side-by-side to do more, do better, make changes, and quickly requested to join the Board of Directors. Pat has inspired me to give of my heart, not just my wallet.”
No one was more surprised than Pat herself. “I am very grateful to be chosen for this Award and look forward to accepting it on behalf of all who are, and have been, a part of the Women’s Center throughout our 42-year history and who put their hearts and souls into our work of ending violence in our community,” Zachman said.
The Women’s Center is the recognized expert and sole provider of survivor services within the Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield 13-town service area. Their committed team of dedicated staff, direct service and board of director volunteers sustain the high quality, professional services for all who turn to them for help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Pat will be presented with the Award at a cocktail and dinner reception sponsored by People’s United Bank on Thursday, October 26th from 5-8pm at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury. For more information and to register, go to 2017HeartofWomen.eventbrite.com or call 203-743-5565.
